Carapa Guaianensis (Andiroba) Seed Oil - cold pressed and unrefined

Country Of Origin:  Brazil (fairly traded, supporting local communities/community education projects)

Andiroba, also known as Crab Tree Oil, has a long history of use by Amazonian tribes to relieve muscular aches and to help reduce swelling a good choice for rheumatic conditions. It contains anti-inflammatory compounds and, because it is an excellent emollient, it can be very effective in bringing relief to dry and cracked skins. In addition to this, the soothing properties brings extra benefits to skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema and even acne.  A very good choice for products designed for mature skins.

In addition to this, like neem, it has a reputation for being a good insect repellent but, unlike neem, it has a mild nutty aroma, which is pleasant and easily masked (if need be) by the use of fragrant components (fragrance oils/essential oils) in product formulations. As well as being an excellent insect repellent, it is actually a rather good choice for use on bites and stings (anti-inflammatory).

As a final note, andiroba oil does become solid in colder conditions but this is easily remedied by standing in a warm spot or in warm water.  Despite this characteristic, it is a remarkably light oil to use on the skin and it rapidly absorbed by the skin.  A most interesting quality indeed. It could be a useful oil to use in specialised bar soaps (eczema/psoriasis).

Usage: Up to 100%
