Cedarwood Atlas - Cedrus atlantica Country of origin: Morocco Cedarwood Atlas is often the preferred choice of aromatherapists and for use in skin care formulations. It has been used for centuries as a moth & insect repellent, preservative and as an incense as well as being used to treat urinary and respiratory tract infections. Distillation of the wood, often from the sawdust & stumps, Atlas has a camphoraceous opening top note with sweet, warm, balsamic woody base notes. Cedarwood has numerous beneficial properties especially in skin and hair care (dandruff and and oily skin/acne). A very useful insect repellent and is fungicidal. It is generally good for stress-related conditions and anxiety. It is an excellent fixative for other essential oils and is employed in many skin care, soap and perfumery formulations. It is a particularly good aromatic element for male products.
