Clove Bud - Syzygium aromaticum

Country of origin:  Madagascar

Thought to be native to Indonesia, clove is cultivated worldwide.  The chief producers are, however are Madagascar and Indonesia.  Has a sweet/spicy aroma with a slightly fruity-fresh top note.  The aromatic buds are used extensively as a culinary flavouring, medicinal tinctures & for flavouring the Indonesian kretak (cigarette).   A useful oil for general aches and pains & is also thought to be good in helping to relieve depression.  Clove oil can be blended with palmarosa and geranium to give a rose-a-like natural aroma for a fraction of the cost.
