Olive Wax - Olea Europa - Tocopherol
Olive Wax (flakes) is an excellent substitution for beeswax, particularly for vegan products.  It is obtained from a process of blending different fractions directly from olive oil to produce a hard wax, similar to beeswax.  No chemicals or foreign matter are used in this process ensuring the purity of the end product.

Apart from being a good vegan alternative to beeswax, olive wax is a good choice for using in natural skin care/soap products because of its purity.  Beeswax can contain residues from the pesticide strips, which beekeepers in many countries have to use to protect the bees from the Varroa Mite.  Also, some beekeepers no longer use the traditional 'smoke blowing' method to calm the bees and instead use a creosote spray, which is a carcinogenic.  So 'pure' beeswax may not be so pure and your end product may also not be so pure.

Olive wax, like beeswax, has a high melting point of 60 degrees C.  It behaves in a similar way to beeswax when added to soap and product formulations, adding hardness to soaps, balms etc... It provides a water retaining, protective barrier to skin.  It is an ideal a complimentary choice for vegan and natural formulations.
