Easy Body Butter |
Many thanks to Mai for this kind submission of such a lovely recipe. This is a really simple recipe for gorgeous body butters 2oz of shea butter 2oz of mango butter 2oz of cocoa butter 1oz of sweet almond oil 2oz of fractionated coconut oil 5 grams of vitamin E ½ oz of fo, or ¼ oz of eo mica or colourant of choice Melt the shea, mango and cocoa butters in the microwave or double boiler if using microwave make sure you do it slowly so the cocoa butter doesn't burn. I usually put them in the microwave for 2 minutes and then leave the cocoa butter to melt into the oils. When melted add the almond and fractionated coconut oil and the vitamin E and then stick the bowl in the freezer for about 20 minutes until they have just started to set Then get out your hand whisk or kitchen aid, and whip the set oils up until nice and fuffy add any fragrance you want at this point add any colourant, mica's are good with body butters. While still slightly soft put into suitable jars and let set. They will instantly melt on the skin on contact, they can be a little greasy though but great for dry skin and through the winter months. You can if wish add a tablespoon of cornflower to cut the greasiness, but i don't like how it feels personally. I make mine slightly different now I add in another ingredient or two to cut back on the greasiness but the above is a great recipe to start out with. |
