Whipped-Up Shea
A really simple recipe that is wonderful for those extra dry areas such as elbows and knees and makes a great foot balm as well as a intensive treatment for very dry, chapped hands.

Ingredients:

60g Shea Butter.
30g Grapeseed oil.

1. Melt the shea and the grapeseed in a non-aluminium bowl over a pan of hot water.  Remove from heat and whip like there's no tomorrow (it might be best to use an electric hand whisk!) for 2-3 minutes.

2. Cover the bowl with some cling film and place in the freezer for 3-4 minutes (don't leave it too long or it might harden too much).

3. Remove from the freezer and whisk again for a further 2-3 minutes.  Cover & place back in the freezer, again for 3-4 minutes.

4. Repeat this process 3-4 times, or as many times as it takes to produce a light and fluffy consistency.  Spoon your whipped shea into a sterile jar and store in a cool dark place (the fridge is good in very warm weather).

Variants:  You could try using an alternative oil, such as olive or avocado oil (which are incredibly moisturising).  Maybe drizzle in a teaspoon or so of vegetable glycerine at the mixing stage to give extra moisturising benefits (although this may lead to the product separating over time - but if its used quickly enough, no problems).  Add value to your recipe by using essential oils chosen specifically to meet your needs.  Experiment and be creative.  We at Fresholi would love to hear about how you made this your own (your masterpieces and your disasters).  Why not post to our forum.
